The Historic Grand Theatre
On May 7th, 1937, hundreds of people lined up along Third Street outside of the new Grand Theatre. The largest neon sign in Grand Island graced the facade, which was build entirely of colored glass. It was the most beautiful modern building in town. The marquee proclaimed "Nebraska's Finest and Most Modern Theatre!"
In 2005 a small group of dedicated business owners banded together to form "The Grand Foundation, Inc." to save the last surviving movie palace in Grand Island. The Grand Theatre now continues the legacy and rich heritage of its past by providing high quality entertainment experiences.
The state of the art audio and visual technology in combination with the beautiful Art Deco interior creates a truly grand movie experience.
The theatre is now operated by volunteers and specializes in family and independent films. Movies are shown every Friday, Saturday and Sunday with admission and concession prices being surprisingly affordable!
